My sophomore year I was in a Journalism class, and this is the first spot that I produced by myself. I checked the school's camera out of the building and interviewed Elise Courtois, Ph.D., a molecular biologist and director of Single Cell Biology at the Jackson Laboratory about legislation that has since been passed to advance endometriosis research and awareness in Connecticut. During this time, with additional information and resources. Both the spot and the website were shared both school and district-wide, allowing me to teach our entire community about something that I care about.
History of Hate and Hope is a concept a classmate and I came up with when tasked to make a podcast and video episode for our junior year for our American Studies class. The multi-episode series that resulted was not only something that I really enjoyed making, but gave me the opportunity to reach out to Abdi Nazemian, the author of Like a Love Story for a first-person interview for our podcast. This all just reinforced my love for using multiple forms of media to communicate history.

I worked with The Jackson Laboratory to highlight opportunities for their employees to utilize their Volunteer Time Benefit. I created of a series of video interviews showcasing local nonprofits that employees can volunteer at in the community. To create and produce these videos I worked with leadership heads and outreach coordinators of the organizations, recording interviews and asking them some questions. I also got footage of what the organizations do in real-time. I made three spots in total, and as part of the process taught myself how to film professionally on an iPhone, as well as editing skills on DaVinci Resolve.
