Hello! My name is Becca. I am a Senior at Farmington High School and love making all sorts of multimedia content. Most of what I have made has been focused on the topic of history and social action, however, I have also helped to showcase some organizations and initiatives in my state.
On this site, I invite you to learn a little about me and view some of the projects I have worked on. From podcasts to videos, I take great pride in my work and the lessons learned from each new challenge I undertake.
When I was in third grade my grandparents brought my parents and me to Italy to celebrate their anniversary. The trip was filled with museums and beautiful architecture. My grandpa brought his camera and let me use it to take pictures throughout our trip. This experience is what sparked my love of history and being behind the camera. Since then I haven't stopped taking photos or videos, and I'm constantly looking for more places to find some interesting history
From a very young age, I loved storytelling. In fourth grade, I started making a comic with one of my friends and drafting graphic novels. In eighth grade, I started writing a story with a bunch of my friends that had really no plot, but was still a fun collaborative writing project. And in ninth grade, I was introduced to what I could do on my own with multimedia storytelling. It wasn’t until my 11th grade American Studies class that my love for creating videos was completely solidified. This class was obviously based on history, which has always been a passion of mine. As part of the class, we were assigned to make an educational podcast and video to teach people about a topic that we were interested in. These two projects ended up being my favorite projects that I have ever gotten to do in school. Not only did I get to pour in all my creativity into the production, I also got to research some of my favorite topics! While working on the project I realized, this is what I want to do. This is what I love.

Filming at Hands on Hartford was one of my favorite places to film because everyone I met was so passionate about what they do and their impact on the community. Their excitement to show this through my video really pulled everything together!
I participated in a week-long multimedia journalism class as part of a UConn Pre-College Summer program. Not only did I gain storytelling skills for both print and video, but I got to meet Symphonie Privett and see behind the scenes of an on-air news studio!
I like to get very hands on when filming so that I am not only able to understand the topic better, but also allow the viewer to experience the spot in the most authentic way. When filming this spot with the Farmington River Watershed Association I followed along in their footsteps and even went out in a canoe to capture first hand footage of their work!
As I am entering college, I want to focus on History and Multimedia Production. In the future, my goal is to be a History Communicator, producing my own content that is entertaining and engaging, but still educational and accurate. Whether this is through movies, podcasts, TV shows, or anything else the new and emerging forms of media have to offer, I want to find a way to connect people through history storytelling, both the good and bad.
